PERSONAL INFORMATION
In addition to having practiced law from the same location for more than ten years, Benet Pols brings a lifelong commitment to the Bath-Brunswick area.? Born in Brunswick, Mr. Pols grew up in the shadow of Bowdoin College.? After graduating from Brunswick High School, Mr. Pols went on to the Williston-Northampton School and then to Middlebury College in Vermont where he earned a B.A. in religion with minors in economics and biology.? After working for a period in Washington, D.C. Mr. Pols began law school at George Mason University in Arlington, VA.? Upon graduation, Mr. Pols returned to Maine and practiced law as a sole practitioner in Brunswick.? After marrying Beth Singer of Bath in 1997, Mr. Pols first settled in the City of Bath living in a house that had been in the Singer family?since 1940.? The Pols' two daughters?were the fourth generation of the family to occupy the house.? The arrival of a third child required a move to a more spacious house in Brunswick.
Beth Singer Pols currently teaches second grade at Woolwich Central School.? Beth's B.A. is from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine while her Masters Degree is from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.? The Pols have three?children.
Both the Pols family and the Singer family have long connections to the area.? Mr. Pols's family first moved to Brunswick in 1948 when Mr. Pols's father, Edward Pols, left Princeton University to take a teaching position at Bowdoin College.? Beth Pols's family, the Singers and Greenblatts, go back even further, having been important community and business leaders in the City of Bath and Town of Brunswick since the turn of the last century.? Both our extended families continue to have strong connections to the community in education, business, law and civic organizations.
Mr. Pols is active in community affairs,?having served?as a member and vice chair of the City of Bath's Zoning Board of Appeals?from 2000 until 2004.? In addition, he served for time on that City's Forestry Committee.? Previously, Mr. Pols was a member of the Conservation Commission for the Town of Brunswick. |
